Completing a sweep of Ahmanson Cup, Border Run, Leukemia Cup and Yachting Cup, Piranha continued on its hot streak throughout the swing south on the fleet calendar. In the Leukemia Cup precursor to Yachting Cup, the fleet raced as part of an inverted start and not only did Piranha finish first of the Farr 40’s, they were barely nipped out a the finish line by Taxi Dancer for the PHRF class win in a photo finish.

At Yachting Cup, Piranha was plain fast, and but for a late over early call in race #3, pretty much dominated with some great tactical calls by Erik Shampain. Woolly Bully made it’s first appearance since an overhaul, won race #3 and almost beat Temptress with Dave Ullman calling tactics for second in a great performance for a new crew that hadn’t sailed the boat in a number of months. Skian Dhu was the hard luck boat of the regatta – they did not hear the over early call in race #3 and had to take an OCS that also cost them second for the regatta.
